Absolutely FANTASTIC!!!! So very sad and hard to believe that within a year or so of this wonderful concert he would take his own life. You could see the ABSOLUTE JOY he brought to that audience. They were so happy and dancing. To have that effect on countless numbers of people around the world is truly a gift from God. But his "demons" were just too much for him to bear. And if this were not tragic enough, his daughter Kim died of a brain tumor in the 90s as well. Hopefully they are in heaven singing together! RIP😢

Knowing that when the Beatles performed, the screaming was so deafening, that the audience couldn’t hear them, and they couldn’t hear each other, I thought I would watch their concerts, minus the sound, to see what effect, if any, it had on me. I noticed I was reacting to their body language, rhythmic movements, the way they strummed, the swing that Ringo had, and especially their smiles. The way they looked at each other, seemed as if they were able to admire what each one of them contributed to the whole. They were a well oiled machine, and a package of talent, honed to perfection, to produce maximum musical enjoyment. I felt as if there was an enormous bolus of energy inside their bodies, and I imagined their voices, fingers, and instruments acting as conduits to places where their combined rhythmic musical energies could escape, and be converted into sound. You could see in their faces, how much they were enjoying the music they created, and they were enjoying the fact that people loved them as people, and also loved them for the way their music made them feel. That came as a surprise to me, because considering the crowd couldn’t hear them, what I would have expected to see were four guys with blank facial expressions and unenthusiastic body movement, going through the motions. For the Beatles, ‘showmanship’ and a dedicated work ethic, went hand in hand.

The Beatles’ mix of playful silliness with musical genius has become the gift that keeps on giving, as we move from one generation to the next. How remarkable was it that 4 unbelievably talented men would find their way into the same band, none of them concerned with anything else but musicianship, who were, for all intents and purposes, married to each other for about 5 years, who eventually went off on their own, still able to impress us with their special gifts in music. They paved the way for the changes we are accustomed to seeing today, in the way live shows are put on. They didn’t have an entourage, and they came close to being electrocuted while doing live shows in the rain. Although they weren’t able to hear themselves perform, which drove them into the studio for good, it is a testament to how well they understood each other’s musical “gait”, that enabled them to perform as if they could hear each other. Their experiences showed how important it was to have people with backgrounds in business and contracts who you could trust, which has certainly benefited the likes of Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, and many others.

Considering how nowadays AHDN is considered to be a masterpiece, a gem, a treasure -- something that's beyond just being a movie and that never gets old... It's so hard to believe that at the time of its release it was expected to be a throwaway item. But that's the facts -- When Walter Shenson was preparing to restore, remaster and reissue the movie for the first time in 1981, he told me that when he got ahold of the master 35mm negative film reels he was horrified to discover that whoever had been given the job of making trailers for overseas release of the film in the '60s had simply chosen 30 seconds here and a minute there to suit their purposes -- AND CHOPPED IT OUT OF THE MASTER NEGATIVE! Working with inferior prints of those missing chunks and trying to get them fixed up to look and sound as good as the rest of the footage without today's modern computer techniques was an absolutely hellish chore!
